Should people's salaries be based on their job performance?
2022年度 第1回英検準1級ライティング問題より
I think people’s salaries should be based on their job performance. There are two reasons for this.
The first reason is that people who achieve good results are very important for companies. Paying a high salary to someone who does not produce results is a waste of money. Some people say that Japanese companies have grown by giving higher salaries to employees who work longer, but recently, such companies have been struggling to grow.
The second reason is that it motivates people who achieve good results. If the system rewards people with more money for working harder, everyone will be encouraged to do their best. Some may feel sorry for those who cannot perform well, but I think those people should find jobs that suit them better. In this way, a system where salaries are based on performance is good for both companies and employees.
That is why I believe salaries should be based on job performance. (157 words)

人々の給料は彼らの仕事のパフォーマンスに基づいているべきですか？
人々の給料は仕事のパフォーマンスに基づくべきだと思います。その理由は2つあります。
1つ目は、成果を出す人が会社にとって大切だからです。成果を出さない人にたくさん給料を払うのは、お金の無駄になってしまいます。これまで、日本の会社は長く働くほど給料が上がる仕組みで成長してきたと言う人もいますが、最近はそういった会社が伸び悩んでいます。
2つ目は、成果を出す人のやる気がアップするからです。頑張った分だけ給料が増える仕組みがあれば、みんなもっと頑張ろうとします。成果を出せない人がかわいそうだと言う人もいますが、その場合は自分に合った仕事を探せばいいと思います。このように、成果に応じて給料が決まる仕組みは、会社にとっても、働く人にとっても良いことだと思います。
だから、給料は仕事のパフォーマンスに基づくべきだと思います。
