Is a worldwide ban on weapons of mass destruction an attainable goal?
英検1級 2018年度・第3回ライティング問題より（英検準1級対策として使用）
I do not believe that a worldwide ban on weapons of mass destruction an attainable goal. Below are two reasons to support my view.
Firstly, each country wants to protect themselves. Having stronger weapons means not being easily attacked. Some people may argue that throwing them away will make the world peace but it will be impossible in terms of what I mentioned above.
Secondly, aliens may attack the earth. You can imagine that by watching SF movies like Avengers. Although the risk may be low, humans have to be prepared for that.
For these reasons, in my opinion, a worldwide ban on weapons of mass destruction will not be an attainable goal. (113 words)

世界的な大量破壊兵器の禁止は達成可能な目標なのか？
私は、世界的な大量破壊兵器の禁止は達成可能な目標ではないと考えています。以下は、私の考えを支持する2つの理由です。
第一に、各国は自国を守りたいです。より強力な武器を持つことは、簡単に攻撃されないことを意味します。大量破壊兵器を捨てれば世界平和になると主張する人もいるかもしれませんが、先に述べたような観点からすれば不可能です。
次に、宇宙人が地球を攻撃するかもしれません。アベンジャーズのようなSF映画を見れば想像がつくでしょう。リスクは低いかもしれませんが、人類はそれに備えなければなりません。
以上の理由から、大量破壊兵器の世界的な禁止は達成可能な目標ではないだろうと私は思います。
